Naples Line 1: the ex-post evaluations of European bodies

Summary - This article aims to highlight the importance of the European Union in the construction of one of the most complex infrastructures in Italy: Line 1 of the Naples metro. Built since 1976, the Neapolitan metro has yet to be completed, but the articulated political-administrative origin has benefited from being framed within the broader framework of the Common Transport Policy (CTP). In particular, the EU has contributed to the development of the work on several occasions through the allocation of large funds, which are then the subject of an ex-post evalutation report on the benefits achieved by the line and those expected. A few years after its publication, this crucial document still presents important indications for public decision-makers, in order to maximise the positive effects that the metro can bring to citizens.
