This article illustrates the main innovative

solutions developed for the 2 x 25 kV power supply and

electric traction systems of the Italian high-speed/high-capacity

railway lines. These solutions concern the architecture

of the high-voltage power supply, the neutral section

configurations, the electric traction earthing system in tunnels,

the DOTE system for remote control, the diagnostics

system and the experimental use of Cu-Mg contact wires.
