A connectivity measure of the italian network: 1885-1905

Summary - The article aims to expand the research already carried out for the twenty-year period from 1905 to 2005 - published in the past in Ingegneria Ferroviaria -concerning the study of the connectivity of the Italian network relating to passenger traffic, based on two measurable parameters: the useful links between an arbitrary number of appropriately chosen railway nodes; the average travel time between the aforementioned nodes. The twenty-year period covered here is that of the validity of the new railway Conventions, from 1885 to 1905, the latter is the year in which the State Railways were born. On this occasion, brief notes were also made on certain historical aspects linked to the four time frames into which the study is divided, no longer divided into decades as in the past.
